Clad Metal Specialties was founded in 1985 and operates in Bayshore, Long Island. They are a full-service metal processing firm that produces customer-specific clad metal solutions with a wide range of applications for numerous industries.
A “clad metal” is “A sophisticated composite of two or more metals, effectively combining the best qualities of the different metals,” (Clad Metal Specialties). Clad metal has many benefits; “it is resistant to corrosion and wear, and it has thermal properties, magnetic properties, and electrical properties, so it is versatile in many industries and applications. Clad metal is also known for its strength, density, weldability, formability, and compatibility,” (Clad Metal Specialties).
The aerospace and military industries are among the many sectors that they serve, and their materials flew to Jupiter aboard NASA’s Juno mission. Clad Metal Specialties is also owned by Denise Marcoccia, highlighting female leadership in an industry that can struggle with diversity, as documented by Empire Space. Clad interconnects have been and continue to be used in most solar satellites in space. They were instrumental in the development of the first use of clad metal replacing plated metal. Their metals are also used in a wide variety of other space and defense products.
Empire Space is grateful for the leadership and innovation that Clad Metal Specialties has demonstrated for decades in such a critically important field. They are a key industry player in the New York space ecosystem and have helped send the hard work and ingenuity of the Empire State out into the Solar System.
